Saori@destiny’s WOW WAR TECHNO was released on March 18th, 2009. It’s her 1st mini-album.

It’s been a while since there’s been a cutesy pop track from Saori@destiny. Breathe Breathe Breathing is pretty nice with its light bubbly synth and nice acoustic guitar. The chorus is probably the best part because everything comes together and Saori sounds great throughout.

I dreaded when I found out Saori@destiny was covering TRF’s EZ DO DANCE because well… I hated it, to be honest. And after the WOW WAR TECHNO single, I wasn’t taking a new mini-album well. Well. I was completely wrong. To the highest degree. EZ DO DANCE is an amazing and explosive dance track. Saori@destiny made an amazing cover that I have listened to for DAYS. This may sound weird but vocally, she sounds extremely strong, even though she has vocoder. x:

Lost uses more 90s synth. When I heard the previews this was one of my favourite tracks and I couldn’t wait for it to come out. I love the dreamy synth during the verses and the strong beats during the chorus. Saori sounds amazing once more.

Now we have more variety. Spiral sounds kind of jungle-y becauses it uses different beats during the whole song. This song uses a lot more piano and acoustic guitar too.

The only bad song on the mini-album is Yowamushi Heart. Actually it’s not bad, but it’s not good. Saori takes a stab at a ballad, and it’s pretty dull and not very exciting. I didn’t really like the melody and Saori kinda sounded out of tune with the music. I like that she’s trying to vary her style a bit, but maybe ballads aren’t her thing.

The spring breeze rmx of Breathe Breathe Breathing turns the song into a techno-reggae song, and I love every second of it. I love the reggae drums and the lounge-ish synth. It’s not the most exciting song (it is at the last 30 seconds of it, where it goes all insane), but I really enjoy this remix.

You could pretty much say my expectations were exceeded tenfold. The WOW WAR TECHNO single left a bad taste in my mouth and I wasn’t too enthusiastic about a mini-album. But after hearing the previews, I was really excited and couldn’t wait another minute! Now I’m curious as to where Saori@destiny is gonna go next with her music. Hopefully next time around it’s even better!

Saori@destiny’s WOW WAR TECHNO was released on February 11th, 2009. It’s her 4th single.

I think WOW WAR TECHNO had a lot of potential, but in the long run it was just a big mess. As it begins it sounds decently catchy, but once the stock vocals come in I’m immediately turned off. They sound really… ugly (for lack of a better word) and they just sound like “WUH WUH WUH.”  The first verse after that features some singing, but that’s about it. Oh, wait, there’s another verse (but the same exact thing) a lot later in the song. The rest of the song is just chaotic. It’s mainly a dance track, hence the “TECHNO” but it was all executed so sloppily that I just didn’t want to listen to it anymore. I guess if you can overlook it’s many flaws then you could probably get into it, but me, I can’t. In the end, this song had potential to be something a lot better but it was just sloppy.

Thank goodness Stainless Starlight is SOOO much better. It sounds a lot like something off of her album, with the spacey sounds and heavy techno beats. I’m glad we got more of Saori singing instead of just pure instrumental, that alone makes the song a lot better. Overall this song sounds way better than the A-side… hell, it SHOULD’VE been the A-side. With a new mini-album in the works, I’m not sure WHAT to expect from Saori@destiny. Oh well, one can only hope for the best.

Saori@destiny’s JAPANESE CHAOS was released on November 19th, 2008. It’s her debut album.

Starting us off Saori@destiny’s debut album we have a cover of Denki Groove’s Shangri-La. I really like how funky this song sounds with the heavy beats and almost “jungle” sounding synth. This song stays heavy throughout, and doesn’t really show any tone change throughout most of the song. This is definately one of my favourites off the album, though.

We have a New Vocal Styling Mix of her debut single My Boy… but I don’t really hear any difference. Nevertheless, I still don’t really like this song because it’s not very exciting and doesn’t really have any catchy hooks, it’s mostly dull throughout.

chemical soda stood out for my somewhat because it uses cute 8-bit beeps and Saori sings in a much lower tone. The 8-bit is definately what made me like the song because it’s really captivating and it kinda draws me in, as it starts out quiet and gets louder over time, as well as Saori does. She starts out kind of soft, being over-powered by the music, and as the verses go on she slowly gets louder, which I thought was weird, but it’s whatever.

I didn’t really like My Way when I first heard it… and I still don’t. I don’t really like the looping beeps that remain present in the background (they begin the song and then take a place in the back where you can barely hear them.) I also didn’t like how in the verse Saori was singing and then got muffled. Her tone didn’t really match the song either.

Another one of my favourites is Perfect Wonder Girl. I absolutely love the way Saori sings the chorus, because her voice is sort of chill during the verses and then it gets upbeat and makes the song really catchy. I like the somewhat gritty synth after the chorus too. As it gets closer to the end, it starts transitioning to her last single sakura, which I thought was cool, since sakura is definately my favourite from Saori@destiny.

0 No Mahou to Hysteric Sniper reminds me a lot of sakura because it uses a lot of piano and features a lot of the same sounding synth, not saying that’s a bad thing though. I also really like this song because I really like sakura. xD

As we get closer to the end, Hikari Syndrome really slows things down a bit… kind of. It begins really slow, same with the first verse. But when the chorus comes in, it EXPLODES and speeds up some and gets a lot happier sounding. After the first chorus it stays thesame tone, but the same speed as the chorus, which made me like the song a lot more.

Ending the album, we have the DENPA rmx of Sayonara Revival, the B-side from her last single, sakura. It takes a happy, up-beat synthy song and turns it into a trance-chipmunk nightmare… but I LOVE this remix. D: It’s really catchy and dare I say it… it sounds like something from DDR. xD

I realise this review is exactly a MONTH overdue, but that’s thanks to people not uploading it sooner. c: Anyways, I thought this was a great debut album and she offered everything she had. Some of the songs I have gripes with but overall I thought this was an impressive debut and I can’t wait to hear her future releases. (if there are going to be any.)

Saori@destiny’s sakura was released on March 26th, 2008. It’s her 2nd single.

Now THIS is what I like to hear. After her first single, I was little upset with Saori, but sakura is her saving grace, as it’s MUCH better and a LOT more catchier. This one opens with slightly synthed up piano, and already I’m enjoying it. Like a certain someone said, the synth in sakura makes it sound a lot more natural, and definately pulling me in, because the synth sounds a lot more in-tune and draws me in. I feel if she sticks with songs like this she’ll definately identify her sound as an artist, and maybe even turn a few heads in the process, other than that I don’t have much else to say.

The B-side, Sayonara Revival, is DEFINATELY a lot more catchier than the A-side. Not saying sakura is bad, but this track is one of those ones that gets me up off my feet. This is a style of song you’d expect to hear from capsule (probably with stock vocals, lul) but a little less cutesy. Saori sounds amazing among the short bursts of synth and she definately won me over with this track.

This single features a remix, and it’s a connects since mix of Destiny’s War. According to a certain someone, there’s an original version, but it’s extremely rare. Weird, huh? Anyway, this track is a lot more technoey, with it’s fair amount of synth. It’s also a lot more cutesy and upbeat. I didn’t really have any problems with this song other than that Saori sounded a little out of tune at some parts. Otherwise this is a good way to end a fantastic single.

Saori@destiny’s My Boy was released on December 5th, 2007. It’s her debut single.

My Boy is your typical synthpop-with-tons-of-vocoder type of song. There’s nothing SUPER special about it, and it’s actually the same thing I here from other artists. The immediate thing I know about Saori’s voice is that it’s a lot lower than most of those vocoderists out there, and it’s different but not frowned upon. To be honest, this song isn’t actually all that great. I mean I like the synth loops during the verses, but the chorus is really boring and I wish there was more spunk to it. To me that would make it a lot more catchier and possibly make me like it more. But for a debut, it’s not horrible and I’m glad that she decided to make THIS her debut, because debuts usually start out a little shakey. Luckily her next single, sakura (lulz how original) is MUCHMUCHMUCH better.

Our Telepathy is pretty much the same thing, except that there’s more techno instead of synth and it uses heavier beats and a lot less music. I didn’t really like how Saori sang, because she sounded really monotone and it distracted me from actually getting into the song. Definately B-side material.

The connects since mix of My Boy doesn’t really sound different. They just sped it up and adds more synth to it, but otherwise there’s no vocal or instrumental change. I do prefer this version over the original, though.
