Namie Amuro’s WILD / Dr. was released on March 18th, 2009. It’s her 33rd single.

Let’s get WILD! I was wondering what Namie Amuro’s return would sound like. Many thoughts went through my head, and I just ended up forgetting about it. Once I heard she had single coming out, I was like “OMGOMGOMG” and my expectations were exceeded tenfold. WILD is an explosive dance track with blaring synth and thumping beats that really get your heart pumping. Thought it doesn’t have much variety (mainly just a few verses and choruses that sound the same,) this song it HOT HOT HOT (especially the “legs, arms, short sleeves, fingers, toes, hips and belly “part. ;D) and I couldn’t have thought a better way for Amuro to come back, sounding better than ever. I HIGHLY recommend this track.

The other A-side, however, has MUCH more variety. Dr. starts out sounding very futuristic, having random synth noises and beeps throughout the beginning. Then a quick change of pace, and it turns into a BLARING brass section (WTF?) ”DR. PLEASE SAVE US!” and then it turns into a softer, more reserved side. I applaud Amuro for adjusting to the abrupt style and pace changes. Dr. proves to be an equally amazing A-side.

Namie Amuro’s 60s 70s 80s was released on March 12th, 2008. It’s her 32nd and it peaked at #1 on the Oricon Charts, selling 114,719 copies in its first week.

Representing the 60s is NEW LOOK. It has a part from The Supremes’ Baby Love back from the 60s too. If you couldn’t tell, this song talks about getting a new look. xD Pedicures, salon, clothes, etc. The only weird part about this song is the random spelling in it, like “LOL” and “OMG”… I didn’t know they used those acronyms back then…? The musical part about it is really interesting, considering the past R&B songs from Amuro. This track has a pop tune to it, but Namie adds a little spice to it.

The 70s is Aretha Franklin’s original song, Rock Steady. This is the Namie we know and love. An extremely catchy song with an amazing beat. I really like how Aretha’s song melds together with Namie’s. This track almost sounds like something from her last album PLAY (which was absolutely amazing.)

And the 80s with Irene Cara’s original song What a Feeling. This song was also really different because it was almost completely techno, which is something we haven’t heard a lot from Namie. It’s really good though. The best part I would have to say is the chorus, because I like the “what a feeliiiing…” and how it fades in and out. Can’t wait to see what else Namie has in store for us!
