I guess you know what that means! Since I’ve been rather lately this past month, I thought I’d wind things down with my ~Best of 2009~ stuff. Part 1 is going to be… *pause for dramatic effect*

Now this is only going to be top 5, since I’m really lazy. ;D And don’t worry, this is in no particular order.

This year has had some fantastic music, from little artists to some of the biggest names in J-pop today. Even some of the newer artists! Here are my top 5 favourite A-sides from 2009.

Perfume – One Room Disco

I think it was rather obvious why I picked this one: IT’S BLOODY ADDICTING. Perfume have become a forced to be reckoned with in the Japanese music industry and it’s easily seen why. They’re so cute! Plus, their music is SO CATCHY. D:

school food punishment – butterfly swimmer

I’ll admit it… I’m a school food punishment stan. But, honestly, these guys are unlike ANYTHING I’ve heard before. They have an awesome combination of electronic, classical, and hard rock elements that flow together so amazingly. They’re easily my favourite band this year.

LM.C – PUNKY ❤ HEART

LM.C have really been on their game lately and their style of electronica and hard rock has really evolved into something extremely catchy. I spammed this song SO much when it came out since it features a fast-paced guitar and drumline that’s amazingly catchy.

Ayumi Hamasaki – Sparkle

DAMN AYUMI, WHEN DID YOU GET SO FIERCE!? Sparkle was DEFINITELY one of the hottest songs of this year, and who better to pull it off then Ms. Hamasaki herself AND WHEN CAN WE GET ANOTHER ONE LIKE IT.

Haters be hatin’. ♥

But with the good comes the bad. Thought this year has had it’s fair share of amazing songs, doesn’t mean someone will come around to mess ERRTHANG up. Here’s my top 5 list of songs I HATED this year.

MEG – FREAK

I had a bad feeling about this track when I found out who it was being produced by… and my predictions were true. Luckily MEG was able to bounce back with a decent album and a pretty good mini-album.

Not only is the arrangement a mess but Suzuki won’t STFU. We can blame the producer again for this one. smh.

Ken Hirai – CANDY

Flop.

Nami Tamaki – GIVE ME UP

Even floppier.
