ayaka’s CLAP & LOVE / Why was released on September 5th, 2007, and the Why / CLAP & LOVE version was released on September 12th, 2007. It’s her 7th single and debuted at #5 on the Oricon Weekly Charts, and it has sold a total of 67,157 copies. CLAP & LOVE was used as theme song for the drama Jigoku no Sata mo Yome Shidai, while Why was the theme song for the PSP game CRISIS CORE -FINAL FANTASY VII-.
First up, on the normal edition, is CLAP & LOVE. I was really surprised at how deep her voice was, I mean her voice is deep already, but it’s song at a lower tone. It fits really well with the song actually. I like the clapping beats in this song, it’s got a nice tune to it. I also like how there’s some electric guitar, in it too. The only part I don’t really like about this song is the chorus, it’s really lackingand would’ve been a lot better with, maybe, a few extra beats, but overall, this is a pretty catchy song.
First up, again… on the CD+DVD version is Why. I first heard this song after I beat Crisis Core (THE ENDING ALMOST MADE ME CRY, BTW.) and thus, I learned about ayaka. I didn’t really get into her, however, after I heard her upcoming single Anata to. Anyway, this song is really nice with it’s acoustic ballad sound. ayaka gives a really nice performance too. c:
The beginning of the live version of Peace loving people, begins with ayaka talking and whatnot. I thought this song was pretty boring, and ayaka sounded really weird, because she talked a lot through it, her voice sounded off, and the back-up vocals weren’t very good. Sorry to say, guys.
Overall Grade:

I’m actually quite disappointed at the sales of this single! I guess Sony (she’s from Sony right?) was expecting a bit too much from her, and even though 67K is a good showing, they’re not really happy with it either.
If the sales had been good, it could have brought about a whole new un-boring ayaka with more upbeat numbers that has more attitude. All the songs she sings now are boring ballads. D:

But ayaka ballads are epic! D: I believe has to be like my 2nd favorite balad of all time only behind Otsuka Ai’s Planetarium.

Raid, ayaka is part of Warner Music. XD
I looooove CLAP & LOVE but Why is still kind of underwhelming for me. Since it was the theme song for an FF game, I was hoping for another Suteki da ne or Melodies of Life. =x
