Nana Mizuki’s SECRET AMBITION was released on April 18th, 2007. It’s her 15th single and peaked at #2 on the oricon charts, selling 38,538 copies in its first week. The title track was used as the opening theme for the anime Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Strikers, Heart-shaped chant was used as the opening theme for the PS2 game Shining Wind, and Level Hi! was used as the ending theme for the TV program Gacchiri Monday!.
SECRET AMBITION begins right away and slow builds up. It’s completely different than her last single Justice to Believe / Aoi Iro, because of how it changes from a pop sound to a more rockish sound. and it’s not as crazy. I thought Nana’s voice was a lot better than in Justice to Believe because it sounded really weird, but in a good way. Anyway I like her voice better in this song. I also like the more edgy songs that Nana makes. It suits her.
I seem to contradict my self A LOT as I review… and I noticed thatI like Heart-shaped chant A LOT more than SECRET AMBITION. For some reason it reminds me of Italy because of the way everything is set up. It’s absolutely beautiful with the violins and that one instrument that I DON’T know! Dx This song suits the cover a lot more in my opinion. (RANDOMLOL.) ANYWAY BACK TO MY MEDIOCRE REVIEWING. The song sort of lacks an explosive chorus like it’s title track, but that’s just fine with me everything else is wonderful.
Level Hi! is probably my least favourite track on here. I didn’t like how her voice was all “=D” It sounded too cute and just…. weird. I did like the rock sound to it though. And the chorus is nice too, but otherwise I don’t really like this song.
