fake star – Ken Hirai

Tracks:

1. fake star

2. fake star ~Ken’s swingin’ jazz~

3. POP STAR×fake star (MASH UP)

4. fake star ~less vocal~

Ken Hirai’s fake star was released on September 12th, 2007. It’s his 27th single and peaked at #6, selling 20,727 copies in it’s first week.

fake star is probably one of my favourite songs by Ken Hirai because of how catchy it is. The style of it changes so rapidly, from jazz, to a ballad sound, and to the pop sound. I also like how it contrasts with POP STAR “I wanna be a pop star” to “who is a fake star? That’s me.” My favourite instrumental part of the song is the fast-paced acoustic guitar.

I really liked the swingin’ jazz mix of fake star. It focuses on the jazz part of fake star and it’s a great song, with or without pop. Hirai does a nice job with the adlibbing.

The POP STAR×fake star (MASH UP) was… interesting. I felt that the songs were completely different from each other so they didn’t “MASH UP” very well.
