POP STAR – Ken Hirai

Tracks:

1. POP STAR

2. Tameiki Kippu

3. POP STAR ~less vocal~

Ken Hirai’s POP STAR was released on October 26th, 2005. It’s his 23rd single and peaked at #1 on the Oricon Charts and sold 70,681 copies in its first week. It was also used as the theme song for the drama Kiken na Aneki.

POP STAR is fun, fun, FUN. It gives me a sudden burst of energy when I listen to it! xD It’s got an extremely catchy synth-pop tune and a catchy beat to go along with it. Some may say it’s too cheery, but I love it! Ken’s vocals are great, he hits those high notes extremely well. And his back up vocals are great too! Amazing, amazing, amazing.

Lastly, is the wonderful ballad Tameiki Kippu. This song blew me away. I loved how the beginning built up and slowed down leaving only piano and his voice. I also like how the song builds up to a faster tempo with a slight beat, with all of the piano, violins, and Ken’s voice. His vocal performance is stellar.
